Local youth football league to play homecoming games, raising funds for Komen

The East Valley Sun Devils will hold homecoming games for several of its teams and raise funds for breast cancer research on Saturday at Skyline High School in Mesa.

The teams involved encompass the league’s — which is part of Alliance Youth Sports — mighty mite, junior pee wee, pee wee and junior high divisions. The games begin at 8 a.m. on Oct. 5 and the last one kicks off at 2 p.m.

Attractions beyond the games themselves include a 50/50 raffle, gift baskets and other raffle prizes and a ceremony honoring grandparents during halftime.

During the homecoming games, the league will collect money through breast cancer donation buckets, first down buckets and touchdown buckets to donate money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The league is also looking for business to match donations to the foundation throughout the month of October.
