Mesa Mayor Scott Smith and Vice Mayor Alex Finter joined students at Keller Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary schools on Feb. 18 to participate in Mesa’s Science in the School Day.

Smith and Finter joined Cities United for Science Progress, a partnership of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and DuPont to help 150 fourth and fifth graders at the two schools learn basic engineering ideas.

Smith, Finter and the students built “puff-mobiles” using everyday items to build a car that would go the fastest.
