The Mesa Fire Department is restoring its Driver’s Safety Program thanks to a $5,000 donation to East Valley Firefighters Charities from CSE Insurance Company.
The program was cut when funds were not available. The donation will allow 960 students at the district’s six comprehensive high schools to receive driver’s safety education.
“Students get first-hand experience from our firefighters, who have been on these accidents. Students experience the impact it has on our first responders from their personal stories; they witness the pictures and scenes of real accidents involving kids their own ages within the valley. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience that carries over the message and direct consequences of poor decision making while driving”, driver’s safety coordinator Michele Long said.

Thanks to CSE for stepping in. One questions why a program that costs 5 bucks per head doesn't just charge the 5 bucks though. If you can afford to drive, you can afford 5 bucks. Force the high schoolers to go to this (or any other) program put on by professionals.
