Robert Hurley will be sworn in as new postmaster of Phoenix on Monday. The ceremony is at 2 p.m. at the Phoenix Main Post Office, 4949 E. Van Buren St.

Hurley, who most recently served as postmaster in Mesa, replaces Alvaro Alvarez, who retired earlier this year.

He began his U.S. Postal Service career in 1981 as a carrier in Irvine, Calif., and was postmaster in Santa Ana, Calif., before moving to the Mesa office.
