The Mesa Police Department has arrested a man who allegedly tried to hire an undercover detective to kill his grandfather through Craigslist.

According to information provided by the department, Devin Almejo faces charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder for a scheme where he attempted to hire a person to murder his grandfather.

Per the department, the situation began when Almejo allegedly placed an advertisement on Craigslist to try and purchase a gun to kill his grandfather. An undercover detective responded to the ad and met with Almejo, who told the detective he was not accustomed to using guns and attempted to hire the detective to murder his grandfather. In exchange, Almejo allegedly offered an iPad, iPod and a year of free haircuts as payment.
