A 1-year-old Mesa girl was taken to Maricopa Medical Center Thursday after receiving second- and third-degree burns in a sink, a fire official said.
Doug Martineau, a spokesman for the Mesa Fire Department, said the incident occurred around 1 p.m.
He said the baby received burns on her face and body.
Martineau said the cause of the incident was unclear because responders couldn’t communicate with the people present, who only spoke Spanish.
“All (that) we know is they got there, she was in the sink and she got burned,” he said.
