This Old House magazine has named downtown Mesa one of its 64 best neighborhoods in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
The magazine’s editors looked at features that they say make good “old-house neighborhoods,” such as architectural diversity, craftsmanship and preservation, as well as amenities including walkability, safety and a sense of community.
The neighborhoods will be featured in the magazine’s April issue, on newsstands March 11 and online at www.thisoldhouse.com/best-places.

Walkability, safety and a sense of community...how long did these "editors" hang around? More than a few minutes?
Here's a challenge for them, since the neighborhood is so safe: send your "editors" out for a nightly stroll in downtown Mesa, say Stapely and 8th Avenue.
Let us know how that works out for you..
