Eight weeks of classroom and hands-on training have come together for Mesa native Kellen Mills, 27, one of the most recent graduates of Pit Crew U, a training course for those interested in a career in motorsports as an over-the-wall pit crew athlete.

According to a news release, the students learn pit stop choreography and each pit crew position, and become proficient in race day preparation, equipment maintenance and selection, and pit road rules and regulations.

Mills, a graduate of Arizona State University, will now be offered the chance to continue working towards becoming one of motorsports' most elite athletes by joining PIT's 5 Off 5 On Race Team Performance program, which prepares students for tryouts and placement with professional teams.
