Mesa City Councilmember Dennis Kavanaugh will have his fifth-annual holiday toy drive to collect toys to donate to Cardon Children’s Medical Center throughout much of November.

Beginning Nov. 7, residents can donate unopened and unwrapped toys to 10 different locations in Mesa, including the Dobson Ranch Library, Mesa Police Headquarters and the East Valley Institute of Technology campus.

“It is always heartbreaking when a child has to spend the holidays in the hospital rather than at home,” Kavanaugh said in a press release. “The hope is that the gift of a new toy can keep a smile on their face and make their holiday season a little brighter.”

The toy collection ends on Dec. 9 — the donation date for Cardon Children’s Medical Center is scheduled for Dec. 11 — which is the day after the free holiday pancake breakfast where people can also donate toys. The breakfast is on Dec. 7 between 8 and 10 a.m. at Mesa Fire Station 207, located at 2505 S. Dobson Road.

For more information, contact City Council Assistant Jared Archambault by calling (480) 644-6275 or via email at jared.archambault@mesaaz.gov. A list of suggested toys is available at http://evtnow.com/600.
