Mesa Library offers free programs for kids of all ages to stay engaged with activities during the summer months. The variety of programs includes reading, bowling, art and music. The programs will take place at the Main Library, 64 E. First St.; Dobson Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road and the Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road.
Each library has an assortment of special programs for kids and families. Highlights include:
Summer Reading Kick-Off: Read and earn fun incentives. Everyone who finishes the program gets a free book at the end. The reading kick-off begins 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Main, Dobson and Red Mountain Libraries. All ages.
Bubbles Blast: There will be crafts and bubble blowing for kids of all ages, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 11 at Red Mountain Library; 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 16 at Main Library and 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 17 at Dobson Library.
Carpet Bowling: Kids of all ages can try hand bowling with red carpet bowling lanes, kid-friendly pins and bowling balls, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 4 at Main Library, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 19 at Dobson Library and 2 to 4 p.m. June 27 at Red Mountain Library.
“Dark Shadows,” the MuV chat: Bring your cell phone and chat about the movie at its played, 2 to 4 p.m. June 19 at Dobson Library. Texts will be displayed on the screen next to the movie for all to read. This movie is rated PG-13 and is 113 minutes long. Ages 12 and up.
Earth Rocks: Explore the earth’s wonders at this interactive program for school-age kids from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 23 at Main Library, July 24 at Dobson Library and July 25 at Red Mountain Library.
Game On! The entire family can play board games, Wii and Rock Band every Monday from June 3 through July 22 at the Main Library from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“Huff ‘N Puff, The Story of Three Pigs” East Valley Children's Theatre presents this classic tale with new characters and several twists; part of their “Literature Alive” Program – encouraging kids to read. It will be presented 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. June 21 at Red Mountain Library and June 28 at Main Library.
