The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a particulate matter-10 health watch for Friday.
Particulate matter-10, known as PM-10, are small solid particles and liquid droplets found in the air created by combustion or dust stirred up into the air. PM-10 can aggravate existing respiratory conditions. A health watch is issued when pollution levels may approach federal health standards.
During a PM-10 health watch, wood-burning activity is restricted in Maricopa County. Drivers are encouraged to carpool.
