Chase Field is allocating space at Sunday’s Diamondbacks game against the Colorado Rockies for parties with children who have food allergies.
“Peanut-controlled” suites that have been specially cleaned of allergens will be available for $25 for the 1:10 p.m. game. Children younger than 2 are admitted free. Seating is limited, and guests sign waivers pledging they will not bring peanut products in with them.
“We are very grateful for the partnership and support from the Arizona Diamondbacks.” Veronica Braun of the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network said in a statement. “Food allergies are on the rise in the U.S. and abroad.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the number of children with food allergies rose 18 percent from 1997 to 2007.
