With rising temperatures this week and soaring local ozone concentrations, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued an ozone health watch for Wednesday.
High pressure is strengthening in the Valley, according to reports. With the light winds, there is the potential for ozone to arrive in the Valley from southern California and mix with what’s already in place here.
Ozone is an invisible gas that is created when other pollutants in the air are heated by the sun. There could be a high pollution advisory later in the week if the model continues, according to reports.
Those with existing respiratory conditions should limit time outdoors Wednesday, especially in the late afternoon when ozone production peaks.
