Gilbert police have concluded that an incident involving an Apache Junction police officer's 10-year-old who shot his sister was accidental.

The Arizona Republic reports (http://evtnow.com/2rh) that the Officer Jesus Ramirez has been subjected to "corrective action" by his department for the March 20 shooting.

Police say Ramirez's 10-year-old son accidentally shot his 12-year-old sister in the shoulder with his father's service weapon. She was treated and released from the hospital the next day.

Ramirez had left his Glock pistol in a holster on the rear seat of his unmarked police car, along with his ballistic vest and a police rifle inside a zippered case.

His son was in the back seat and shot his sister while Ramirez was closing the garage door.
