According to a letter sent by the Gilbert Public School District to parents, the incident occurred when a man attempted to kidnap a Mesquite Junior High School student at the Sahara Palms apartment complex. The student was waiting for a school bus to arrive when the suspect, wearing dark clothes and a ski mask, grabbed the student by the arm and attempted to take the student from the area.
