A 4-year-old Gilbert, Arizona boy was saved after a canoe he was in capsized in a Minnesota river.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a 64-year-old man was recovered from the Gull River north of Baxter.

Officials say local residents heard cries for help and found the boy, who was treated at the scene and taken to a Brainerd hospital.

The 64-year-old man, a resident of Brainerd, was found downstream and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. His body was taken to the Ramsey County medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Authorities say both the boy and man were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.

The names of the victims have not been released.

The cause of the canoe capsizing remains under investigation.
