The Gilbert Town Council will hold a closed executive session 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gilbert Municipal Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, regarding three petitions filed with the town last week seeking a voter referendum on three tax changes recently adopted by the council.
According to the agenda, there will be discussion and consultation with attorneys about referring the sales tax increase, use tax and the lifting of a rental tax exemption, along with the possibility of calling a special election. Town attorney Susan Goodwin has said in the past that the taxes are not subject to referendum under state law.
