A Valley family pleads for answers eight years after 28-year-old Stacy Aragon disappeared --- leaving behind her two young sons.
This Saturday marks the anniversary since Stacy went missing. All these years later, it's taken a toll on her family.
Stacy's sister-in-law Nikki Askren hasn't given up searching for answers.
"The not knowing weighs heavier on your mind then some of the good memories do, because you're still wondering what happened to her," she said.
Just a few months before Stacy went missing, a drunk driver hit and killed her 10-year-old son.
"She ended up starting to get mixed in with the wrong kind of people, wrong crowd, doing the wrong things," Askren said.
On July 20th, Stacy and her boyfriend Steven Bishop ran some errands in Gilbert and were never seen again.
"We couldn't get a hold of her, and our phone calls went unanswered," Askren said.
Months later, hikers discovered her abandoned station wagon out in the desert near Lake Pleasant. Her cell phone was still inside.
"And then all the things from her son's funeral. Her purse, things that she wouldn't have left behind," Askren said.
Stacy's other two young sons, now teenagers, still have a lot of questions.
"She'd have never walked away from them, never. Especially after them having lost their oldest brother," she said.
Askren hopes this year will bring them peace.
"She deserves a final resting place. A proper memorial service, if that's what the end result is," she said.
Askren believes someone out there knows something and could help solve the case. She doesn't believe Stacy's boyfriend had anything to do with her disappearance.
At last check, Gilbert police had no new leads. If you have any tips, you can call police at 480-503-6500.
