Gilbert’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility has started a mercury thermometer exchange program for town residents.

Coordinated in partnership with Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, the program allows residents to bring in mercury thermometers and trade them for free digital ones, with a limit of two per family. The facility will then dispose of the mercury thermometer, which requires special care due to the material.

The facility is located at 2224 E. Queen Creek Road and is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call (480) 503-6400 or visit gilbertaz.gov for more information.
