Through a month-long series of events culminating with a pizza-eating contest at its Gilbert location, Flancer’s restaurant raised $28,000 for Warfighter Sports (formerly known as the Wounded Warrior Project), which rehabilitates wounded soldiers through sporting events.
Eating 18 1/2 slices of pizza in 15 minutes, Jimmy Peng repeated as champion, beating his winning record of 16 1/4 slices from last year. Peng is a pizza-eating pro, having won the contest three times in the last four years. This year’s victory earned him $500.
Flancer’s, with locations in Gilbert and Mesa, prides itself on its family friendly atmosphere, unique food, and freshly baked bread.
