Gilbert’s Centennial Committee, in conjunction with the Gilbert Historical Museum, is seeking nominations for the inaugural Gilbert History Awards.

The awards honor excellence of citizens, either living or deceased, associated with Gilbert.

Nominations are being sought in the following categories: agriculture, commerce, science, education, sports, arts, community service, medicine, religion, government service, social service and military.

The deadline for nominations is Sept. 8. The awards will be given at a ceremony with mayor John Lewis commemorating Arizona’s Centennial on Nov. 15.
