Gilbert Early College’s girls basketball team captured its third consecutive Canyon Athletic Association State Championship on March 1, at the US Airways Center. Gilbert Early College finished the season 20-5, after returning only one starter from last year’s CAA State Championship team. They were led by junior Hannah Carpenter who had 20 points in the 40-34 victory over Sequoia Pathway Academy. Carpenter was named the CAA Division 2 Tournament MVP.

“It was a great season, and I am really proud of the hard work and improvement that the girls showed during the season. I am amazed to see a team with such youth rise to the occasion and compete at such a high level” said coach Erik Gray, who's also the school's athletic director.

Gilbert Early College is a character-based Leading Edge Academy charter school that excels academically and athletically. Gilbert Early College is a 6th-12th grade school located 415 North Gilbert Road.
