One person was killed and two others injured Tuesday in a head-on traffic collision at Williams Field Road and Parkcrest Street in Gilbert.
The collision, which occurred at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday just east of the San Tan Loop 202, left a 28-year-old man dead, according to Gilbert police. The silver Pontiac the man was driving east had crossed left of center on Williams Field Road, striking a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Pontiac died on impact, police said. The driver of the truck is in critical condition, while a passenger is in serious condition.
The cause of the accident is being investigated, police said.
Williams Field Road between Higley Road and San Tan Loop 202 was closed after the accident, but as of 5:45 p.m. has been reopened.
