The Town of Gilbert has signed on to participate in the Canada Arizona Business Council, making it the first in Arizona to do so.

The organization’s purpose is to promote trade between Arizona and Canada by getting groups from the two regions connected and breeding relationships among them. In a press release, Gilbert Mayor John Lewis said the town’s membership will benefit the relationships Canadian businesses, many of which he said are tied to technology and engineering, have with the town.

“As a member, we hope to establish relationships that will increase foreign direct investment opportunities and support policies that increase the ease of doing business in Arizona and promote bi-lateral trade,” he said.
