Gilbert Public Schools recently filled four open administrative positions ahead of the 2014-15 school year.
The district officially hired Mike De la Torre, Daniel Johnson and Melinda Murphy to serve as the principals at Campo Verde High School, Mesquite Junior High School and Highland High School, respectively. The district also tabbed Frances Chaffee Grossenbacher to become the director of the district’s Special Education Department.
De la Torre comes to Campo Verde after spending as an assistant principal at Poston Butte High School and has degrees from Western New Mexico University and Northern Arizona University. Johnson previously worked at Greenfield Junior High School as an assistant principal and athletic director and worked at Mesquite as a social studies teacher for five years. Murphy is a vice principal at Desert Ridge High School and oversaw the attendance, counseling, the campus bookstore and AVID program at the school. Grossenbacher was the district’s special education coordinator for the preschool, motor services and deaf/heard of hearing programs since 2004.
All four will fill their new positions beginning July 1, and the decision to hire them came as part of the Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board’s May 13 meeting.
