Butterfly and dragonfly walk
Butterfly season is in full swing. Take the opportunity to observe and learn about these beautiful creatures. Basic identification techniques will be taught as part of this all-ages walk, which is scheduled for 7 a.m. Saturday at the Riparian Preserve, 2757 E. Guadalupe Road. The cost is $5. "Beauty and the Beast" stage show
The Hale Centre Theatre will present the award-winning stage show "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" through August 29.

Class teachesdigital scrapbooking
Learn the basics on how to transform your electronic photos into a published digital scrapbook from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday at the McQueen Park Activity Center, 510 N. Horne St. The class will cover organizing and categorizing pictures, photo enhancement and publishing techniques. Two software programs will be included in the $47 class fee. Participants are welcome to bring their own laptops to class. A more advanced class covering design elements, backgrounds and more will run from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Kids will have the opportunity to learn about reptiles through expert Rich Ihle's collection of lizards, snakes and other creatures in this informative and entertaining program. The Congress of Neighborhoods and the Town of Gilbert are teaming up to present a welcoming party for those new to Gilbert 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road. Members from various town departments and programs will be on hand to provide information about services available to residents. Register for indoor rock-climbing trip
The Teen Treks program for youths 11 to 15 continues with a trip to the Phoenix Rock Gym. Participants will be taught the basics of rock climbing and belaying from professional instructors before being allowed to explore the 15,000 square feet of climbing space and 30-foot-high walls. Monday movie matinee

Youths age 10 to 12 will learn the fundamentals of volleyball through assorted drills and skill instruction. Topics that will be covered include bumping, setting, spiking and serving. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Wednesday at the Freestone Recreation Center, 1141 E. Guadalupe Road. A $15 fee is required for the camp.
