Gilbert police are asking the public to be vigilant for any suspicious vehicles or individuals after a 9-year-old girl told officers a man inside a car grabbed her wrist on a neighborhood street and tried to pull her inside a white four-door passenger car.

The incident happened about 7:30 p.m. along Marble Street and Clark Drive northwest of Queen Creek and Val Vista Drive on March 16.

The girl told police the man was seated in his car and driving along side of her, offered her a ride home then grabbed her wrist. She was able to break free and ran to a nearby home. The man drove away, police said.

The man is described as dark skinned, wearing blue jeans and a scarlet shirt and had an accent. He was driving a white four door passenger car with an Arizona license plate. No further suspect information was provided.

Investigators have completed a door-to-door canvass of the neighborhood to identify potential witnesses and notify residents.

Neighboring police agencies have also been notified in an effort to share information for potential similar suspect descriptions. There have not been any similar reported incidents in Gilbert, police say.

If anyone has any information about the incident or sees anything suspicious in their neighborhood, they can call Gilbert police at (480) 503-6500.
