The Higley Unified School District governing board agreed Thursday to increase pay to all its teachers.
The salary of a newly-graduated teacher will go from $33,416 this year to $35,350 to better compete with surrounding districts.
Under the plan, the district is restructuring its salary plan. To make it happen, all teachers would receive an increase of close to $2,000 next school year. An additional $500 will be given to teachers who have achieved a master’s or doctorate degree. The board approved the measure 5-0.
