A new two-year contract for Gilbert Unified School District Superintendent Dave Allison will be considered by the district’s governing board Tuesday night.

Allison was originally hired as superintendent in 2008. He was the district’s associate superintendent of administrative services at the time. He started with the district in 1993. He had previously served as the assistant superintendent of educational services and as the assistant superintendent of secondary education and classified personnel.

Allison is currently under a one-year superintendent contract, signed in January to begin July 1 and scheduled to end June 30, 2011. His 2010-11 base salary is $150,000.

The new two-year contract – which would end June 20, 2013 - could be approved during Tuesday night’s 7 p.m. meet at 140 S. Gilbert Road. It will include a new clause related to performance pay. Legislators put into law a new statute that requires any superintendent’s contract approved after July 29, 2010, to include a clause that requires 20 percent of a superintendent’s salary and benefits be related to performance.

Tuesday night the board will discuss how that performance pay will be determined.

I hope the Gilbert School Board will evaluate Mr. Allison's performance, or in this particular case, "lack of performance" very carefully! It's time for us to give him a grade.............how about a
    " D " Mr. Allison?

Well Dr. Allison has blamed everything on the "Budget." Well my question has been, where is the money coming from to pay the so called, "Smart Teachers?" Who on that Administration is a Smart Teacher and making much more money than they are expected or deserved? I bet If you look from all the people in the district you will find them, and some really big money going to them? Mr. Allison and the entire Adiministration has let the Gilbert schools and the entire community down, because they feel that education is better served in their own pockets!
Mr. Allison if you or any of your Administration were working at a big company that was constantly underperforming, you would be fired! As a concerned citizen lets not reward his under achieving standards with a new contract, but lets reward him with an open door, therefore he can attempt to go ruin another district! Shame on us if we allow him another 2 years to bring our community schools further to the bottom of the barrel.

Only 20% based on "performance"? In the private sector 100% of a top executive's salary is based on performance. How will his performance be judged? Are the kids doing better since he took over? Has Mr. Allison used the money he has to work with and spent it "educating children"? Or somewhere else?

Gilbert's administrative costs are below the state and national averages.
