Gilbert will be kicking off its Spring Concerts in the Park series this Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the amphitheater in Freestone Park, 1045 E. Juniper Road. The entertainment will be provided by The Arizona Bop Cats, who will play a variety of songs from the 1950s and '60s, ranging from hits by Elvis Presley to The Beach Boys.

Global Village Festival volunteers sought
Gilbert's multi-cultural celebration is looking for volunteers to assist at the April 17 event. Help is needed to set up, tear down and work in the various displays. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and admittance to the hospitality tent for their efforts.

Various astronomy concepts and new discoveries will be discussed during this monthly lecture series at 8 p.m. Friday in the library classroom at the Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road.
A $3 donation is requested for the lecture. Afterward, the East Valley Astronomy Club will have telescopes set up outside for a free public star-viewing party.

'Guys and Dolls' show
The Hale Centre Theatre will present the classic musical play "Guys and Dolls" through April 3.
This tale of love and romance is set in New York City during the rollicking 1940s and is filled with memorable songs.
