Coronado Elementary School first-grade teacher Michelle Berkshire recently earned Fulton Homes’ Teacher of the Week award for her work with one of her students.
Berkshire earned the award for the week of Jan. 31 through Feb. 7 for helping one of her students overcome the detrimental effects of apraxia, which inhibits the ability to execute learned purposeful movements.
“I am truly thankful for everything she has done for our child,” said Noah Uhl Sr., the student’s father. “Michelle is a wonderful example to all teachers on how important their jobs are.”
For winning the weekly award, Berkshire is qualified for the teacher of the year award and the $1,000 check that goes with it during a ceremony in May.
