The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the preserve, 2757 E. Guadalupe Road.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Skateboarding camp

Kids 5 to 12 will have the opportunity to practice their skateboarding skills and learn new ones in this instructional clinic. Students will be taught about board safety, maneuvering, kick turns, ollies and more. Helmets are required, and pads are strongly recommended.

The class meets at Freestone Skate Park, 1045 E. Juniper Road, on Saturdays throughout October, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for kids 5 to 8 and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for kids age 9 to 12.

'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

The Copperstar Repertory Company will present a production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage adaptation of the biblical saga. The play is filled with a variety of musical numbers designed to entertain the whole family.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, along with a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students.

Environmentally friendly solutions

If you’d like to learn how you can help Gilbert become a green community, the “Go Green, Save Green” event is for you. The Gilbert Congress of Neighborhoods is hosting a meeting where town residents can develop a plan to improve water and energy conservation and air quality in their own homes.

It will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Barn at Power Ranch, 3685 S. Autumn Drive. Environmental consultants and experts in sustainable housing will be available to work with attendees to answer questions and assist with solutions that can be put into use right away. Giveaways and light refreshments will also be provided.

'She Loves Me’ stage show

The Hale Centre Theatre will present the play “She Loves Me” beginning Monday and running through Oct. 10. This romantic comedy musical is set in Europe in the 1930s and details the love between pen pals.

The theater is located at 50 W. Page Ave. Ticket prices are $22 for matinees and $24 for evening shows.

Recreation classes available

Looking to get the kids out of the house? Interested in picking up a new skill? Registration is open for a fall slate of Gilbert recreational classes.

Chess education

Open chess instruction will be available for students of all skill levels from kindergarten through high school. Classes will meet from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mathnasium of Gilbert, 538 S. Gilbert Road, Suite 107, and will cost $20 per class or $60 a month.
