Chandler's Hamilton High School has been recognized as one of 20 Arizona Civic Engagement schools by the Arizona Department of Education, part of the department's Excellence in Civic Engagement Program launched in October.

The program aims to, "recognize and support the important role that schools play to ensure that students are informed and engaged citizens" and "recognizes schools that implement the principles discussed within the Guardian of Democracy: The Civic Mission of Schools report."

Of the schools that applied, 10 were honored as schools of distinction, including Hamilton High.

The school will be recognized at an award ceremony on Sept. 17 — Constitution Day.
