The Apache Junction Unified School District is going to close part of Superstition Mountain Elementary School for up to four weeks to repair flood damage from Friday's rainstorm.

According to a district post on Facebook, several buildings on the elementary school campus were flooded. So the school will be temporarily moving some offices and classes.

Preschool, special needs classes and kindergarten through third grade will remain on campus and move to buildings that were not damaged. Fourth through sixth grades will move to the Thunder Mountain Middle School campus that was closed in 2010. According to the district, the campus has been maintained for the past two years and has sufficient space for the older Superstition Mountain students.

All Superstition Mountain students will have no school Monday as the district prepares for the move. Classes will resume on Tuesday with students starting at the Superstition Mountain campus and then grades 4-6 being bused to Thunder Mountain. Those students will then be taken back to Superstition Mountain in the afternoon to be dismissed at their regular time, the Facebook post said.

Parents can call the district office at (480)982-1110 if they have questions.
