The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation raised $285,000 for student scholarships at the sixth annual Heroes of Education fundraising dinner at the Arizona Biltmore. The event also honored Phoenix business consultant Ronnie Lopez as the 2011 Hero of Education.

The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation seeks contributions from a variety of public and private sources including individuals, corporations and other foundations. It acts as a trustee for donations to assure that gifts are distributed in the manner specified by the donor. In 2009-10, the foundation provided $1.9 million in scholarship money to 2,779 students.

Mr. Lopez was one of the Founders and....PAST-PRESIDENT OF CHICANOS FOR LA CAUSA ..............DEMOCRATS....NOTHING BUT HISPANIC-DEMOCRATS AT THIS.........CENA... (dinner in Spanish).

The almost 2,800 students that have received scholarships have not all been Hispanic Democrats Senor Ceniceros. And at the end of the day, helping students is what the Foundation is all about...not glorifying politicians!! What have you done for community college students lately???
