A $1.9 million grant was awarded to the Mesa Community College Education Studies Department from the U.S. Department of Education.

The grant, which will be allocated over five years, will go to help fund the Teachers of Language Learners Learning Community (TL³C) Project. The project was awarded to universities and colleges that partner with one or more local school district or state education agencies to improve instruction for English language learners.
