Mesa's East Valley Institute of Technology has been awarded accreditation for its Surgical Technology program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). EVIT is one of five programs in Arizona accredited for surgical technology.
EVIT's 10-month surgical technology program will have 12 graduates this month. A new class begins on Aug. 17 in the Health Sciences Center that opened on the EVIT campus in 2007. The class is designed for high school graduates who have strong math and science skills and have taken a class in medical terminology. An entry-level class for students while they are still in high school is also available.
