Students from Mesa's Dobson High School are helping College Bound Mesa with a school supply drive for low-income kids at Rhodes Junior High School, where up to 40 percent of the students come from homes with incomes below the poverty line.

Walmart Supercenter, 240 W. Baseline Road, and the Dobson Ranch HOA, 2719 S. Reyes, are featuring collection boxes decorated by the Dobson students. Some of these students attended Rhodes themselves, according to a news release.

The decorated boxes include a list of needed items: backpacks, composition and spiral notebooks, dividers, one-inch white binders, #2 pencils, colored pencils, a ruler, glue stick, highlighter, pencil sharpener and pencil pouch.

The drive continues through the end of July. College Bound Mesa is a program of the Mesa United Way. For more information on how you can help the back-to-school drive, visit www.collegeboundmesa.org.
