The Mesa Unified School District earned a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
The district's Strategic Plan includes making the most of viable revenue — managing resources efficiently and effectively while emphasizing quality.
It is the 26th year in a row the district has earned the honor. The certificate is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The certificate was awarded to George Zeigler, Mesa's chief financial officer, on behalf of his financial services department. An impartial panel judged the financial report and found that "it demonstrates a constructive spirit of full disclosure and clearly communicates the district's financial story."
