Ken Fetter was named principal of Mesquite High School by the Gilbert Unified School District governing board at Tuesday night's board meeting.
Fetter, who has served as assistant principal at Mesquite High for the past 14 years, began his career with the district in 1983 as a sixth grade teacher at Neely Elementary School. He has taught junior high school and high school.
Fetter will replace Cecilia Peterson, who is leaving the district at the end of the school year.
