Hoping to spark student interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers, Science Foundation Arizona's graduate research fellows from ASU worked closely with more than 100 students from the Kyrene Elementary School District's Centennial, Akimel A-al and Kyrene del Pueblo middle schools during the last nine weeks.

During the after-school program, the fellows worked side-by-side with teachers and students on science and engineering projects that explored the design of neuromuscular controls and prosthetic devices, alternative/renewable energy models, and exploratory microbiology and genetics.

The students, teachers and fellows presented their projects last week to parents.
