JO Combs Unified School District in San Tan Valley believes that family is important to students and is encouraging grandparents to come to school for Grandparents’ Day. Each school is hosting a special time for students and grandparents this week.

Superintendent Gayle Blanchard said, “Grandparents play a huge role in our students’ lives. We are encouraging grandparents to come and spend some time with their grandchildren at school. The students are really excited about this and each school is planning a special way to say thank you.”

On Friday, Sept. 7, Harmon Elementary, 39315 N. Cortona Drive, San Tan Valley, is inviting grandparents to bring a sack lunch and do a special craft activity while eating lunch with their grandchildren. Grandparents will be welcomed by banners created by Harmon students. The event will occur in the cafeteria during each grade level’s lunch time.

Simonton Elementary, 40300 N. Simonton Blvd., San Tan Valley, is having a grandparents day breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. Friday. Grandparents will be served coffee and have the option to eat breakfast with their grandchildren. There will also be a photo booth for grandparents to take pictures with their grandchildren.

From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, grandparents can visit students at Ellsworth Elementary, 38454 N. Carolina Ave., San Tan Valley. Grandparents will have an opportunity to work with their grandchild on special classroom activities.

And, grandparents are also invited to Combs High School, 2505 E. Germann Road, San Tan Valley, on Friday to attend class with their grandchild or join them for lunch. All grandparents who attend will receive a pass to the next home football game.

Ranch Elementary, 43521 N. Kenworthy, San Tan Valley, held its 4th Annual Grandparent’s Day Luncheon on Thursday.
