Looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner, but not all the preparation involved? Then consider letting students at the East Valley Institute of Technology take care of the pumpkin pie and other baked goodies.

The students gain valuable hands-on experience and the money raised goes toward scholarships and the purchase of new culinary equipment and supplies, according to a news release.

Items available this year include apple, apple cranberry and pumpkin pies ($6 each); dark chocolate, iced brownie, pumpkin pie and walnut 8" by 8" bars ($5 each); pumpkin, cranberry orange, banana walnut, spiced apple and dark chocolate loaf breads ($4 each); and white or wheat dinner rolls ($1.25 per dozen). The EVIT Culinary Department also sells cranberry sauce and stuffing mix, and can smoke turkeys upon request.

The deadline to place an order is 3 p.m. Nov. 16, and items can be picked up from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 22 or 23 at 1601 W. Main Street, Mesa.

Orders can be placed by phone at (480) 461-4139, fax (480) 461-4093, email at bakery@evit.com, or online at http://bakery.evitculinary.com.

For more information, call Tricia Guerrero at (480) 461-4139.
