Craig Luketich, the long-time principal at Mesa’s Mountain View High School, is retiring from his position at the end of the school year.
Luketich has been principal at the school for the past 20 years. The district posted an advertisement seeking a new principal for the school on its website Nov. 20.
Mountain View is one of the largest — and arguably one of the most academically and athletically successful — high schools in the East Valley, with more than 3,000 students in grades nine through 12. Teams from the school have represented Arizona in the U.S. Academic Decathlon multiple times. In athletics, the school has a number of state titles in basketball, football, spiritline, track, and other sports.
Luketich will stay on with the district in a part-time position next year.
