Parents of Williams Field High School students are being sought to serve on the school's site council, which assists in setting direction for the school and helps determine how the school allocates tax credits and donations.
The site council is made up of teachers, parents, support staff and administration. The group of about 10 to 15 members meets once a month for up to two hours.
The high school is starting its second year in the Higley Unified School District. Once interested parents are identified, a parent will be elected to serve on the site council. Interested parents may call Principal Cindy Royer at (480) 279-8013 or e-mail her at croyer@wfhs.husd.org.
Groundbreakingfor new school set
The Higley Unified School District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for Centennial Elementary School at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ranch House and Fenceline parkways in Gilbert. The school is to open in August 2009.
The two-story school is designed to accommodate 1,250 students.
Q.C. district board meets Tuesday
The Queen Creek Unified School District governing board will meet Tuesday at the district office, 20435 S. Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek.
The board will meet at 4:30 p.m. for a work study session, and then at 6 p.m. for the board meeting.

Neely PTO holds movie night
Neely Traditional Academy's Parent Teacher Organization is hosting a movie night from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the school, 321 W. Juniper Ave., Gilbert. The $3 admission includes popcorn, bottled water and a raffle ticket for prizes. Extra treats and glow items will be sold. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

CGCC looking for fundraiser sponsors
Chandler-Gilbert Community College and the Higley Educational Foundation are looking for sponsors and contributions for the second C3 Cuisine, Conversation, Community scholarship fundraiser. The event will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 4 on the college's Pecos campus, 2626 E. Pecos Road, Chandler.
There will be dinner and conversation on 33 topics, led by members of the community and the college. Topics include arts, music and culture, personal and professional development, politics and current events. Proceeds benefit scholarships to high school graduates from Chandler, Gilbert, Higley and Queen Creek school districts who attend Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
Registration is $75 per person; $50 of each registration will go to scholarships for students from the Higley Unified School District attending the college.
Sponsors are needed for a conversation scholarship, or additional contributions can be made to the scholarship fund. Conversation sponsorships begin at $500, but all donations of $25 and above will be accepted.
