ING awarded two East Valley schools $2,000 grants to help student combat childhood obesity.

The schools, Chandler's Tarwater Elementary School and Mesa's Brinton Elementary School, were named as two of 50 recipients of the grants nationwide. The grants will fund the ING Run for Something Better program, an eight-week running curriculum that ends with a celebration of the students' achievements. The lesson plans focus on students in grades fifth through eighth. It includes distance logs and a running journal to help students see their development.
