Top of the Class of 2013: Tempe's Marcos de Niza High School

Marcos de Niza High School will give diplomas to 422 students this week.

Ryan Dunn is valedictorian for Tempe's Marcos de Niza High School.

Ryan will be going to the University of Arizona Honors College next year. He is hoping to work in the medical field after graduation and knows that their programs are excellent. Ryan was a member of Marcos’ Academic decathlon team as well as excelled in our advanced course offerings. New students to Marcos here is a piece of advice from Ryan Dunn. “Make sure your take the time to socialize and enjoy your high school years”

Ryan has received the following scholarships:

University of Arizona Wildcat Scholarship $10,000 per year

Marcos de Niza High School’s salutatorian is Jessica Bass.

Jessica Bass, MDN’s Salutatorian is leaving Tempe to go to school at Claremont McKenna College in Southern California. This school is a small liberal arts college with a focus on application of global events to everyday living.  Jessica said she was looking for a school with similar characteristics to Marcos de Niza. Jessica participated in the Orchestra, Model U.N. and was instrumental in our Key Club. Through her leadership in these organizations, many community service projects were completed.

She has received a number of scholarships, including Arizona School Counselor Association ($1,000), Key Club International ($1,000), ASU Presidential Scholarship ($9,500 yearly) and the NAU Lumberjack Scholars Award ($8,871 yearly).
