"Is it still necessary for kids to learn their times table when they can pick up their iPhone and ask Siri what is 20 times 2?" asked Dan Domenech, executive director of the American Association of School Administrators.

That says it all why our education system is in the trash can. This brain-damaged fool thinks that basic skills, such as easy math, is no longer needed because of technology. If people in his position think this way, god help our children and grandchildren.

By the way, I've spent the past 10 years on college campuses and can assure you that our education is in the toilet. We have 18 year-ols who can surf the internet, but cannot spell, read, write, or put together a proper English sentence. They also have difficulties talking to another human face-to-face. It is pathetic.

awful, just awful. All my kids drilled with flash cards because they weren't doing it enough at school. Now looks like they will do it even less.

I agree with the above, the quote is from a a moron. Probably a liberal arts major who didn't like math-and, probably asks Siri that very question when he needs math done.
