As the commercial goes, “It’s the most won-der-ful time of the year...” About 300,000 students are getting ready to go back to hundreds of schools in the East Valley.
Chandler and Queen Creek school districts go back first — July 25 and July 27, respectively. Kids in the rest of the East Valley’s districts return to those early morning wake-up times and homework next month: Higley, Tempe and Kyrene elementary districts, and Tempe Union, Aug. 8; Apache Junction, Aug. 9; and Gilbert and Mesa, Aug. 10.
And districts aren’t the only ones gearing up for the new school year. Charter schools. Private schools. Online schools. Home schools. Arizona, and the East Valley in particular, is home to a myriad of K-12 education options.
But regardless of the classroom, some things are universal when it comes to that back-to-school time of year: Easing a child’s worries about moving to a new school, planning after-school activities, starting to ease out of a relaxed summer mode. As the first day nears, parents have lists of things to do.
And of course, there is the shopping. But before you grab your cart to pick up the latest in crayons, backpacks, and kids’ clothes, check out the East Valley Tribune’s Back-to-School Section.
