The closed Bustoz Elementary School in Tempe will soon house a professional development center for teachers. The Tempe Elementary School District will open the TD3 Professional Learning Center in June.

The center will provide space for professional development for teachers and other instructional staff, as well as model classrooms and other key training environments.

“While providing staff development in a conference room, we ask teachers to imagine what implementation in the classroom looks like. At the center, we can show how the management of implementation can be facilitated in the real environment,” said Bernadette Kadel, who will lead the Department for Instructional Excellence.

Teams of specialists from special needs, English Language Learning, math, literacy and technology will all work together and have office space at the center.

The center will also house copies of all current curriculum and resources, so while attendees learn new strategies and programs, they can readily obtain resources.
